Anita de Harde
painter and sculptor
   Anita Dutch - Nederlands

About Anita de Harde

Anita de Harde was born in Groningen, Holland, on October 31, 1950. She finished her education in sculpture and graphical arts cum laude in 1983 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

During her participation in the Paintingfestival in Noordwijk at Sea she followed masterclasses from Aat Veldhoen and Jan Sierhuis, two famous Dutch artists.

After having painted many years realistic figurative with an accent on the animal world, Anita is nowadays painting more and more abstract. Very often one finds remnants of ancient animal forms, that in a subtle way form a natural background. She uses thick layers of modeling paste creating a 3-D effect.

One cannot but feel immediately at home with the earthly colours she preferably uses in several layers thereby creating an unfathomable depth on the canvas.

Sculptures

Recently Anita realised a monumental sculpture in China resembling a woman in yogic posture standing on four wheels named "fourwheeldrivelady".

In 2011 a design for a 3-D sculpture floating on water ("the blue men") was approved and then realised and exhibited in the canal of the ancient Dutch city Zaltbommel.

Motivation

In her most recent work, human figures in different poses that express deep human feelings. Like the ones she did with an African man whom she met during her stay in China. See the following paintings:

  1. Salutations to you
  2. Embracing the world
  3. Curving back

In earlier work, reflections and shadows of the human/animal form were used in order to give some kind of representation of the unfathomable soul. The invisible made visible.

The soul is like a shadow or reflection connected to the body, as long you are alive or in the light. These mysterious forms inspire contemplation and reflection.

Technique

Anita often uses many layers of watery acryl paint in order to create depth in the painting.

By applying layers of gold on the canvas she emphasizes the light aspect of the painting.

In every painting is a light source, a lamp or the sun. Sometimes Anita makes a joke by adding an extra lamp that is not connected to the shadow in the painting.

International appreciation

Anita's work has been sold in Singapore, Indonesie, South Africa, England, Scotland. A painting of her is exhibited in a museum in Miami, Florida. Her work was exhibited in a gallery in Poland and in Barcelona for 3 years.

Recently Anita participated in the Florence Biennale, a well known international manifestation for contemporary art in Italy.

In 2010 a monumental sculpture named "Fourwheeldrivelady" was realised in China on the occasion of the 11th China Changchun International Sculpture Symposium

Media, press

She had many newspaper articles and regularly gives radio interviews on her work and activities.
